My own postpartum experience is (unfortunately) common.
That realization moved me to create Strong Core Mama programs, which have since helped over 2,000 moms restore and rebuild their core & pelvic floor at home.
During my first pregnancy, I had terrible SI joint and public symphysis pain. It was so bad that I limped everywhere, even in the PT clinic where I was treating patients! Then came an emergency C-section and two torn hip labrums. The most frustrating part was that I was a practicing Doctor of Physical Therapy specializing in sports medicine, and even I couldn't find clear answers about how to heal my body.
No one else I asked had answers, either.
As an athlete, I’ve always needed movement for my physical health and mental sanity. Not willing to give that up, I went back to learning specifically for pelvic floor physical therapy and, in addition to that, became a certified Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist. I wanted SO BADLY to finally find the answers to the questions that no one could help me with.
With physical therapy, I was able to heal my body and have two more babies with way less pain and symptoms, even while remaining active. After each of my pregnancies, I was able to return to the activities I loved, like running and lifting, and it was PAIN-FREE.
I started specializing in pelvic floor therapy, blending my knowledge about sports medicine and core/pelvic floor rehabilitation. But I quickly saw the barriers that made physical therapy inaccessible to so many women—the driving, childcare arrangements, long wait lists, and often significant cost.
